Things We Lost In The Fire
Ideally, we’d all be able to go through our days without anything terrible happening. But in life, you have to expect the unexpected. A falling tree, a stray lightning strike, a sudden sinkhole – there are lots of things, completely outside of our control, that can damage our homes and disrupt our lives. When those events happen, it’s important to have a community around you that can help you recover and rebuild. Most are happy to help – because they know it just as easily could have been them.
Such an incident befell a member of our community recently. A power outage hit veteran Nikki’s home – nothing unusual in and of itself. But when the power came back on, the ensuing surge caused a catastrophic electrical short in her air conditioner – setting it on fire. Thankfully things were under control before it caused her home any serious damage – but her AC was a lost cause.
Meet Nikki
“I reached out to Soldier’s Wish because I’d started pricing out the air conditioners,” said Nikki, “On a single incoming I wasn’t able to afford one.” Soldier’s Wish is committed to meeting the needs of veterans around the country, so when Nikki reached out, they leaped into action, once again partnering with the team here at American Home Pros to provide a brand new air conditioner – an AC that provided the first cool air her home had felt in months.
This particular job meant a lot to American Home Pros technician Brayden. “I’m just fortunate enough to be able to give back through Soldier’s Wish, just being in the Army myself,” he said. “To give back to these military families just feels amazing.” As we head into the summer months, the entire American Home Pros family is proud to know that when the temperatures start to climb, Nikki will be cool and comfortable in her home, just as she deserves.
Always More To Do
Seeing Nikki’s face light up when we showed up with her new air conditioner was honestly reward enough for the work. Knowing that she’ll be comfortable this summer is just icing on the cake. But even then, this is just one home, one situation, and we know there are other veterans and members of the Jenks community who need help. That’s why American Home Pros will continue to work to give back to the people who have given us so much. We’re grateful to Soldier’s Wish for letting us be a part of their mission and are always standing by to help when we can.
